Chalsea & Taylor

In the summer of 2024 my search for a doula began when I was around 6 months pregnant. Stacy came up in my search for local, diverse, female doulas, and so I reached out to her in hopes of connecting and working with her. A couple of weeks later, I was laid off from my job, which changed my process for finding a doula.

Stacy’s spirit was kind and she was incredibly generous. Although I would not use her traditional services, she became a wealth of information, resources, and knowledge that I pulled from throughout my journey. She shared things to look out for in the hospitals , and how to advocate for myself with providers and any supportive person who would be assisting with my birth.

I met with Stacy on the phone 2-3 times prior to my birth. My birth plan was to have a VBAC after having twins during Covid and going through a very traumatic experience. I wanted to do things much differently and try to allow my body the time it needed to truly bring about and do what it’s been created to do, and Stacy was very supportive of my decision to do so. My due date was November 22nd, and a week or two before my due date I started to do all the things to bring about labor; I began walking, eating dates and just using my birth ball. Everything you could imagine I started to do, and it seemed like my baby was very comfortable where she was.

My biggest concern was talking to the doctors about scheduling an induction again. I did not want that to be a part of my story. I wanted my body to go into its natural process without intervention or medication, and I worked with Stacy to understand what could be done legally in response to my physician’s recommendations. With that information and knowledge, I was more educated to go into those conversations with my provider. Once I understood what could and couldn’t be done, I scheduled an induction for November 25th. I was concerned again about being induced, so I continued to keep moving to get baby ready.

Sunday, November 24th around 6:00pm my mother-in-law came over and prayed with myself and husband and asked the Good Lord to bring about the child as He designed, and after that conversation and after that prayer I started to have a little more intense pain and contractions were a little bit tougher than just being able to talk through them. I was able to text Stacy to let her know that I was getting these pains and to kind of help me understand what is possibly going on and the contractions increased tremendously and she asked what I knew. I was 40 weeks and 2 days.

During this time Stacy was traveling and was so kind to keep me updated on where she was and kind of helped me time my contractions, and what to do, and it was very, very helpful. Knowing my contractions were under 5 minutes apart, I headed to the hospital. I was fully dilated and ready to go. My body began to push baby out.

I took about 7 pushes and here comes my beautiful baby girl all because I was informed with the right resources from Stacy to be able to do so. I knew what type of medications I did or did not want.

I informed Stacy that beautiful Taylor was here and me and her were both healthy and strong and God bless Stacy for being so generous and kind and supportive throughout the entire journey. I’m not sure what I would’ve done without the resources and just support she provided. She is very kind, very sweet and knowledgeable. Thanks you very much to Stacy for everything throughout the journey.
